1. Estimates projected from public information

Every figure on this site is either taken from, or projected from, publicly available sources: filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, US bankruptcy court records, published surveys and market reports, and prices published by vendors on their own websites. Calculator results apply the fees observed in other, earlier transactions to the inputs you enter. They are statistical projections, not observations of your transaction.

Fees on any actual transaction depend on its size, structure, complexity, timing, industry, jurisdiction, the parties involved, the firms engaged and the terms negotiated. Actual fees may be materially higher or lower than any range shown here.

2. Not advice

Nothing on this site is investment, financial, legal, tax, accounting, valuation or other professional advice, and nothing here should be relied on as such. Using the site does not create an advisor–client, attorney–client or any other professional relationship. Before making any decision about a transaction or about engaging an advisor or vendor, consult qualified professionals who can consider your circumstances.

3. Not a quote, offer or solicitation

No figure on this site is a quote, bid, proposal or commitment by any firm or vendor, or by Deal Cost Index. Nothing here is an offer to sell, or a solicitation of an offer to buy, any security, and this site does not act as a broker-dealer, placement agent, investment adviser or finder.

4. Named firms and vendors

• Fees attributed to a named firm are those disclosed in public filings for specific engagements. They are not that firm’s standard pricing, and the firm may charge differently on other engagements.
• Vendor prices are as published on the dates shown. Vendors change prices without notice, and discounts, taxes, overage and add-on charges may apply. Confirm current pricing with the vendor.
• Statements about a vendor’s security certifications, ownership or history are reproduced from the vendor’s own materials or other public sources and have not been independently verified.
• Firm tiers reproduce third-party lists and are not an assessment of quality or suitability. The order of any table or chart follows the numbers it contains and is not a ranking or recommendation.
• No firm or vendor has paid to be included, excluded or positioned on this site.
• Firm and product names, logos and trademarks belong to their owners and are used only to identify them. Their use does not imply endorsement by, sponsorship by or affiliation with any owner.

5. Accuracy and timeliness

Source documents can contain errors, and extracting and classifying figures from thousands of documents can introduce further errors, even with the checks described in the methodology. Coverage is incomplete: private transactions rarely disclose fees, and some sources are several years old. Data is updated periodically and may be out of date when you read it. Where accuracy matters, check the linked source document.

6. No warranty

The site, the calculator and the data are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Deal Cost Index is not liable for any loss or damage of any kind, whether direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or otherwise, arising from the use of, reliance on, or inability to use the site or its data, including any decision to proceed with, price, budget for or abandon a transaction, or to engage or not engage any firm or vendor.

8. Your responsibility

You are responsible for how you use the figures on this site and for verifying them before relying on them. If you republish them, you must not present them as quotes, as advice, or as statements by the firms or vendors named.

9. Data licence

The compiled data is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. The licence covers the compilation only; it does not grant any right in third-party trademarks or logos, or in the underlying source documents, which remain subject to their own terms. Attribution must not suggest endorsement by this site or by any firm named in the data.

10. Privacy

The site has no accounts, sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising trackers. The figures you enter are processed in your browser and are kept only in the page address, so that an estimate can be shared as a link. Fonts are served by Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when it delivers them.

These terms and the data may change at any time. The date at the top of this page shows when the terms last changed.
